Kiss the Water

Just watched Kiss the Water. A charming documentary by Eric Steel on BBC4 about the late and renowned Salmon fly tier Megan Boyd from Brora, Scotland. Beautifully done with some great oil paint animation too. A heartwarming story about a remarkable lady and craftsperson. I particularly liked the tale of her motorcycle with cow horn handlebars!

I think its on iplayer for about a month. Not just one for the anglers!

Congratulations to nearby Bike Glenlivet at the Glenlivet Mountain Bike Centre (just down the road from us at Thistle Dhu B&B). They ranked an excellent 13th on www.ibikeride.com ‘s “Top Trails and Bike Parks of 2014” list despite being only 1yr old. Thats 4th in Scotland!!!

Glenlivet MTB centre is located in the Carn Daimh forest, near Tomintoul in Moray, Scotland. There is a red and blue grade trail. The mountain bike trails and centre opened in November 2013. A new pump track was launched in October 2014. – ibikeride.com

I had a blast on the red, black and blue runs New Years eve. Loved it. Another good reason to come and visit Glenlivet! – Adi

A very Merry Christmas from us at Thistle Dhu Glenlivet!

Its been a white christmas here for us and the countryside looks stunning. We’ve managed a couple of rides at the Glenlivet Bike Trails in the snow, dodging the deer and pheasants! The cafe was open too so we warmed ourselves with warm lunch and coffee too.

The local pub has been festive too (The Croft) and very welcoming.

We’re now looking forward to the New Year and Hogmanay! Come and stay with us soon.
